to perm, or not to perm?
that is the question. I figured talking about perms was the only true option for starting this blog. for those of us who have had a perm before, we know its not a quick solution to getting ready in the morning, unless you want to scrunch and go. in which case, you will have either tight poodle curls or raman noodle waves. if this look from the 80's makes a striking comeback, then I'll be rich!
but alas, todays celebs rock big waves and sectional curves that can only be achieved by a curling iron. celebs have full teams of stylists and make up artists to help them get ready and they don't have to fight with hot irons, small bathroom spaces, short cords or time restraints in the morning.
hair won't hold a curl you say? well, a loosely waved perm can help coax you hair into holding the curl from an iron or from a blow dryer and a round brush, providing you use the proper thermal styling systems to protect your hair every time.
perms chemically break down the construction of your hair after being rolled on a rod, then chemically reconstructed to hold the form of the rod. a caustic process that leaves the hair dry and possibly frizzy if your stylist isn't knowladgeable about the perm itself or the chemicals that you already have clinging to your hair. the ends of your hair can be ten years old, so be sure to disclose as much info that you can remember if you aren't seeing a regular stylist.
so to sum it all back up, perms are not quick fixes to get kim kardashian waves, but can help the stick straight client who wants curls or waves, and is willing to put in the time to polish the look every morning that the hair is shampooed. don't wory, all is not lost if you don't know how to curl or properly care for your hair when styling with an iron, I will post another section on how-tos very soon! Love your hair, and it will love you back! ")
